... confidently.

These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.

JOHN 20:31

God has created all things.

We believe that God has made us and all creatures, giving us a body & soul, reason & senses, and He daily continues to take care of us. He abundantly provides us with such things as clothing, food, home, family, property, animals, and anything else we need to sustain our body & life. He protects us from danger and guards us from evil. He does all this as a father to us, without any merit on our part, out of His pure and divine love and mercy. We respond with our praise, service, and obedience.

Jesus is our Savior & Lord.

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God, begotten of the Father from eternity. He is also true man, born of the Virgin Mary. We would be lost and condemned creatures, but Jesus has redeemed us—purchased and delivered us from sin, death, and the power of the devil, in order to be our Lord. This He’s done, not with gold & silver, but with His holy, precious blood and His innocent suffering and death. He’s now risen from the dead and lives and reigns to all eternity. He’s done everything so we would be His own, to live under Him in His kingdom and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness.

The Holy Spirit brings us to this faith.

We believe that it is not by our own reason or strength that we believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and come to Him, but the Holy Spirit has called us by the Gospel and enlightened us with His gifts. He sanctifies and keeps us with Jesus Christ in this one true faith, along with the whole Christian church on earth. In this Christian church God daily and fully forgives our sins. On the last day, He will raise us and all the dead and give eternal life to us and all believers in Christ.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
